Implications of the New Immigration Law

President Bush signed into law a bill requiring the screening of new immigrants on the basis of skills. In addition, annual quotas were increased from 540,000 to 700,000 for the next 3 years.

However, even this increase will not fully offset a skills shortage in the U.S. As the pool of skilled workers shrinks and the workforce becomes more diverse, organizations will be forced to look at how they interview and manage cultural diversity.
